The Christmas Star
It’s been nearly 400 years since the “great conjunction” Saturn and Jupiter passed so close to one another, and nearly 800 years that it occurred at night for all of us to see. It occurred on the evening of December 21. After a full days work, we loaded up the kids and headed out west where we had unobstructed views and were away from city lights.
As expected, it was a gorgeous sight, but not nearly as glorious as one may have been led to believe. Honestly, I think we all expected it to be like the star the wisemen followed to Bethlehem. And it’s ok that it wasn’t. I’m just thankful we were around to see it during this time of year.
